Nelly Korda of the U.S., world No. 1 in women's golf, was bitten by a dog.

"We regret to announce our withdrawal from the Ladies European Tour (LET) competition in London next week," Korda said in an Instagram story on Monday (Korea Standard Time). Korda was scheduled to participate in the LET Aramco Team Series on July 3 as the defending champion.

"I got bitten by a dog in Seattle on Saturday. I need time to get treatment and make a full recovery," Korda said. "I apologize to RET, our sponsors and our fans. Thank you for your understanding, and we will return to the course as soon as possible."

Korda is the world's No. 1 player with six wins, including the Chevron Championship, at this year's major championships. However, Korda has faltered recently, as she failed to make the cut in three consecutive events, including two major events such as the U.S. Women's Open and the KPMG Women's PGA Championship.

Korda's return is expected to be the Evian Championship, a major tournament in France, on July 11.
